The Celebrating Gurjar:
Though our origins are uncertain, historians claim our descent from Suryavanshi Kshatriyas and we connect ourselves with the Hindu deity Rama. We are found mainly in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, northern Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra. The semi-nomadic Muslim Gujjars are found in the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and north-western Uttar Pradesh. Gujari has traditionally been our primary language. But, our community members living in different areas speak several other languages including Hindi, Rajasthani etc. Noted politicians Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Sachin Pilot, Dilip Singh Judeo are some of our celebrated luminaries.
